Makeup plays a big role in how portraits translate on camera...not because it needs to be heavy or dramatic, but because it helps bring out your natural features in the right way. Even if you wear minimal makeup day-to-day, the camera can sometimes soften your features and slightly wash out the skin’s natural tones under bright lighting. A little extra definition through subtle contouring, blush or enhanced eye makeup ensures your face still looks balanced and radiant in the final portraits.
That said, less is often more. My photography style is soft, fine-art and true to life and overly heavy makeup can distract from that natural elegance. Thick foundation, strong contour lines or intense eye looks can appear harsh and remove the softness that defines my portraits.
The key is polished but natural... makeup that enhances rather than masks. I recommend working with a professional makeup artist who understands photography lighting and can achieve a flawless, camera-friendly finish - If this isn't an option you can find inspo online or contact me directly for advice to apply your own makeup.
My goal is to capture you at your most beautiful, confident, glowing self!
