Over the years, I’ve photographed just about everything.. From intimate family sessions to full wedding days filled with emotion and celebration. A few years ago, I was capturing at least one wedding and several events every month within the Goulburn Valley/Shepparton and beyond… And while I loved being part of those special moments, I knew that my true passion lies elsewhere.
My main focus now is on my signature portrait work which includes family, maternity, couples and fine-art individual sessions. These are the sessions that allow me to slow down, connect and create galleries with purpose and depth. Every photo is carefully considered, styled and refined to reflect my artistic vision and the individuality of the people I photograph.
One of the main reasons I stepped back from event and wedding photography is the sheer amount of time involved in my editing process. I’m an incredibly fussy editor/retoucher and I make no apologies for it. A single portrait can take me well over an hour to perfect. Every photo is hand-edited and refined individually… I don’t outsource my editing or rely on quick filters or presets. My editing is a huge part of what defines my style and it’s something I take great pride in.
Now imagine doing that level of editing for hundreds of wedding photos. The time required is enormous and it takes away from the energy and focus I dedicate to my portrait clients. My goal is always to give every client the best possible result and that’s only achievable when I’m working intentionally and without rushing through large volumes of photos.
That said, I don’t completely rule out event work. On occasion, I’ll take on a wedding or special event if it truly resonates with my style and if I know I’ll have the time to give it the attention it deserves. Quality always comes before quantity and I only take on projects that allow me to maintain the high standard that my clients expect from me.
